Community is a big deal with me, and one of the reasons I wanted to be an active part of ESP.
I returned to Bigfork after my retirement not only because it is “home,” but also because I wanted once again to be a part of this special community I remember from my childhood. I’m a bit disappointed to find it is not as alive and committed as it was back then, but the basics are still here, and I intend to be a part of its resurgence.
This week’s issue of the Bigfork Eagle includes a letter I wrote to the Editor, concerning community life: Bigfork in the 50’s. Click on the link to view a pdf version of that letter.
But what really prompted me to write this post, is another post from my friend Kevynne in Portland. Kev has been taking classes in Navajo weaving at the Damascus Fiber Arts school for a few years now. One of the regular weavers at the school died recently, and Kev posted a remembrance of him, and his importance in their weaving community. The post is short and touching, and includes photos of his work: In Remembrance – Jack Cozine
