As consumers, we need to be persistant... and extremely vocal about what we want. Here are 2 great links http://www.foodandwaterwatch.org/ and
http://www.nongmoproject.org/.

Recently Food and Water Watch requested that we all call Walmart to let them know that we want to keep Monsanto's GE sweet corn out of our stores. Walmart is listening after being bombarded with over 3000 calls. http://action.foodandwaterwatch.org/p/salsa/web/common/public/signup?signup_page_KEY=6505

I couldn't agree more, tho I'm not sure who you mean by "they."
I believe parents, child care-givers, preschools and schools should serve healthful foods to children. but the problem is, there is not universal agreement on what is healthful and what is not. For example,
- a huge segment of the population believes animal foods are unhealthful, while others believe animal protein is important in the diet.
- Some people believe a low-fat diet is important; others believe that a moderate or even high fat diet is important.
- Some believe a high carb diet is important, some recommend avoiding most carbs, while others believe we should avoid only grain-based carbs.
- Many advocate that only pasteurized milk is safe, while others believe pasteurization destroys much of the nutritional value of foods.

And so on.... What do you believe is "unhealthy food for kids?"

I have been having milk delivered by Steve for 19 years now and have no intention of stopping. I just love going to my cooler and there it is, (it tastes so much better than supermarket milk) it also reminds me of my life in England where my parents still get their milk delivered - for the last 80 years.

" just read though your rhubarb pie piece: "can't wait 'til spring: ' have my own patch of rhubarb! Alas, I've already used up all the frozen.

I live about 1800 miles away (so, no, I'll probably not attend meetings). But, I do enjoy your web site. It is a testament to your hard work.

I read Dr. Mercola, also.

Cat,
The crock pot porridge worked out just fine. I'm soaking cabbage in it today. Hopefully, there will be kimchi in a couple days. I'd share some ferment with you, but, I'm a Hoosier: yeah, the kind that lives in Indiana.

I would trade my crock pot for your stove, 1949 was the year I was born!!

I have been interested in fermented foods for a few weeks, 'have no idea how i happened on to your web site. I would like to be on your E-list.

                                                     thanks , again
                                                     Doug
